Tour 1: A sailing cruise through the heart of Santorini.
Monday after heading south, from Paros to Ios
Day one gets off to a gentle start with boarding at 9am. Once on board, everyone discovers their cabin and settles in comfortably. Then it's time to do the shopping to prepare the week's provisions. After a briefing on safety and the basics of navigation, we cast off. The northerly wind blows steadily, ideal for sailing. At 8-10 knots, the boat speeds along, and everyone feels the magic of being carried along by the wind. After an hour's sailing, we make our first stop for a swim and lunch at anchor. We set off again with full bellies for a 3-hour sail to Ios. Once moored, we discover the Chora, perched high up, with a view that stretches out over the sea. In the evening, a good meal and, for those who like it, a bit of nightlife. The cruise ship becomes a peaceful refuge for the night. And we're not far from sailing to Santorini.
Tuesday, sailing from Ios to Santorini
We set sail for Manganari, south of Ios. A crystal-clear bay welcomes us for a refreshing swim and lunch on board. In the afternoon, we set sail for Santorini. The Santorini cruise takes on its full meaning, under sail with the distant view of the archipelago. Sailing under the gaze of Oia, Fira and Thirassia; in the volcanic crater is a unique experience, with the island's imposing cliffs towering all around. There are a number of options for overnight accommodation, so we won't spoil the surprise on the website.
Wednesday, heading northwest. From Santorini to Folegandros.
In the morning, we leave the calm of Thirassia. We hoist the sails to continue our cruise out of the Santorini archipelago. Upwind, we head for Folegandros. Arrival in the island's magnificent southern bay for a break: swimming, relaxation, lunch. In the late afternoon, we visit the Cora of Folegandros, clinging to the cliffs and offering incredible panoramic views of the Cyclades. Dinner in a typical taverna immerses us in the Greek atmosphere. The night at anchor is peaceful, under a starry sky.
Thursday, discovering the west; from Folegandros to Polyaigos and Kimolos
We leave Folegandros for a beautiful sail to the far west of the Cyclades. Polyaigos welcomes us, deserted and wild, with its sumptuously colored rocks and turquoise waters. We stop for a swim and lunch. We then head north for a 2-hour sail to Kimolos, where small houses in the rocks and colorful doors welcome us. A walk in the hilltop Chora and an authentic meal round off this day rich in discovery.
Friday, back east; from Kimolos to Despotiko
After a morning swim in a cove northeast of Kimolos, we head due east for the little-known island of Despotiko. A first stopover in a bay allows us to enjoy the sea before reaching the large bay between Despotiko and Antiparos. Here, the sunset over the sanctuary of Apollo is a magical moment. The evening continues with a barbecue on the beach or a meal in a fish restaurant, depending on your mood.
Saturday, from Despotiko to Antiparos
On our last day, we sail along the wild and beautiful west coast of Antiparos. The seasoned crew assists with the many maneuvers offered by this sailing area. A final anchorage, an opportunity for a swim and a leisurely lunch on board, gives those who haven't yet cooked a chance to show us their skills. Next, we reach the port of Antiparos for an evening farewell. In the lively alleyways, between stores and tavernas, we savor these last moments together. The night on board is sweet and nostalgic.
Sunday, landing on Paros
In the morning, a short sail takes us back to Parikia, Paros. It's time to pack, take a last look at the boat and prepare to disembark at midday. Memories of this Santorini sailing cruise remain etched in our hearts, while Paros softly whispers: come back soon.
